There are purists who imagine that only tyrants and psychopaths play with power.
But politics, art, sports, and daily life all depend on negotiating degrees of power.
When presented with facts, ideologues use no logic or real discussion, repeating sermons and slogans at higher volume as if we are hard of hearing.
Although they contest and protest, their minds and hearts have already been won by fascism.
They take the liberty to tell us how to live and what to think, they say that different lifestyles and politics are wrong and label the power of the individual as evil.
They smile and shake your hand, feigning altruism.
Do not be fooled into thinking they are our allies! They are the enemy.
Their utopia would have individuality and creativity disappear like a bad dream into their imagined white light.
But like light through a prism, we can refract our own power into beauty.
