A taste of my skewed view of the world

  • Inner Circle

    The watchers, the critics,
the onlookers sitting on the sidelines,
the ones who have never taken a shot,
will never be as close to the bull’s eye
as the arrow that hits the outer ring.
It’s Okay to miss the mark.

  • Fact Or Fiction

    Everything we do is fiction
    until it becomes fact.

    Dreams of flying,
    dreams of space travel,
    dreams of speaking your mind,
    dreams of not dying
or of returning after life, fiction.

    He died, but his adventures,
the legends he started, live on
    unimpaired by his presence.

    Everything we do is fiction
    until it becomes fact.

  • Blue Moon

    Baby blues
eying the rarest of blue moons.
    Blue thoughts
    on another blue Monday:

    Singing the blues
    is sometimes happy—
    vibrant like bell bottoms
    or cool as ice.

    Not always pale
    like blue blue skies
    or black and blue
    like fading bruises.

    Blues are rarely comfortable
    like faded indigo,
    or royal as turquoise
    and never clear as crystal.

    Like the saddest deepest sadness,
the bluest blues are never true.

  • Very Funny

The intent of this dumb little poem
    is not serious.

    Do not take offense
    at this comic
    (not cosmic) poem,

    for that would be like
    being naked at church,

    and would reveal
    your inadequacy as a reader.

  • One Too Many

I think we produce too many things,
    use too many words and
    think too many thoughts.

  • Paths

Drawn to places you’ve never been,
it seems there are many paths,
but in reality there is only one.

    To reach full potential,
    to find your true self,
    take a risk.

    Give up who you are.

There are many paths to truth,

but for you there is only one—
    the one you have chosen.

  • Mindfulness

    Mindfulness is waking up
    to the here and now.

Focus on the past can be depressing
Peering toward the future can induce anxiety.
Living in the present induces peace-of-mind.

    You imagine being someplace else
but in reality you are here.

    Sometimes our brain gets confused
and we imagine we are somewhere else.
We imagine we are there and then.

    You are always here.

    Mindfulness is waking up
    to the here and now.

    We are all here.
    We are all now.
    Be Here Now.

  • Implications

    Close your eyes,
breathe deeply, listen.

    All of us are
    fantastically complex beings,
pretending we’re not.

    Like breath that is both
    voluntary and involuntary,
    what we do and

what happens to us is arbitrary.

When I wake up, I awaken
    from illusions that imply.

    Illusion that
    black implies white.
That self implies other.
That life implies death,
    and death implies life.

I am no stranger, not a transient,
not here by fluke, not here on probation.

    I am fabric, structure, existence.
    I am reality.
    I am
    stars exploding across multiverses—
I am
    a celebration of infinite fireworks.

    When I dream reality,
I dream that I am separate,
    that I am not God.

    When I awaken,
I awaken from illusions.

I awaken to the reality that
    I am,
    that we are all—
ultimate existence.

    We are all God,
pretending we’re not.

  • Natural Selection

    Nature is efficient
    absurd, confusing,
    and intriguing.

    Nature is
    loud, quiet, colorful
    chaotic and balanced.

    Nature is
    gorgeous, entertaining, trippy
    and wonderful.

    Nature is—
    necessary.

  • Father Time

    Within time there exists only
    past, present and future.

    Three bizarre constructs
    created by our imagination.
