Desert Dweller

The religious
spend their lives
in anticipation
of an imagined future;
expectation of an afterlife
that might not exist.

The spiritual
exist in the very real present,
appreciating
the paradise we live in
without expectation.

For them, if heaven exists,
it is a bonus.
