Desert Dweller

Wonder Is Not A Disease

Humans don’t share; they exploit.
the carnal mind overflows
with wanton busyness,
with a profusion of materiality

Humans have this distressing
innate desire to dominate.

Forever trying to “conquer”

nature, space,
mountains, deserts,
insects, bacteria.

Their symbols of conquest are
the bulldozer and the rocket.
Destructive belching beast
raping the earth
and
phallic projectile
blasting the sky.

Stop doing dismissive, disconnected shit.
Stop rehearsing grievances.
Stop dwelling on symptoms.
Stop rushing waves of error.

Learn to distinguish intelligent,
sensitive people from
the morons who pretend to lead.

Escape the existential emptiness,

splash in the puddle of gratefulness,
explore the fathomless whole.

Irrevocable commitment to any religion is not only intellectual suicide; it is positive unfaith because it closes the mind to any new vision of the world. Faith is, above all, open-ness—an act of trust in the unknown.—-Alan Watts
