We are a species that is reliant
on this endangered planet Earth
for our survival,
yet we seem to be hellbent or, perhaps,
blind to its destruction.
We are at a point
in our journey as a species
where we need rebalancing.
Even in this culture gone berserk,
there is meaning and satisfaction
if we are open and attentive.
Breathe deeply of fresh air.
Walk slowly beneath blue skies.
Float lavishly in cool waters.
Satisfy that longing
for intimacy with the earth
and all of her creatures.
In this feverish, high-strung age,
we desperately need
quiet, naturalness, and sanity.
Go to the garden.
Take a hike.
Make a snowman.
Frolic in the rain.
Nap in a hammock.
Hold the pattern
of love and respect
for the myriad forms of life.
Feel the warmth of the sun.
Observe the night and count the stars.
Dance under the strawberry moon.
Rather than controlling or mastering,
approach Nature with the intent
to be in harmony.
See the beauty,
see the significance
in small things close to home.
Carefully nurture
the realm of the heart.
In this world of speed, greed,
and terror,
we all need a deep drink of Nature—
slow, generous,
and peaceful.
