Financial news comes with
my bank statement or
when I file taxes.
If the sun is shining,
clouds rumble
or lightning tumbles,
if snow descends,
birdbath freezes,
or mist ascends,
if it’s a scorcher I’ll know
just by stepping
out my front door.
If the wash is flooded
I’ll hear water running,
if there’s a wildfire, I’ll see or smell smoke.
If I want news
that’s important to me
I’ll have coffee with my neighbor.
I’ll know
gas prices
when I’m at the filling station.
No need to hear
about soldiers in foreign lands
(there’s always a war somewhere).
