Desert Dweller

symphony of extremes.

 

harsh desiccated air

softly scented by sage and creosote.

 

armored sentinels,

prickly green monoliths pierce sapphire sky

 

while lily-white moonflower

whispers dark secrets of divine femininity.

 

migrants exotic souls merge with native-born,

fiery spices tempered by smooth guacamole.

 

howling canines, rattling serpents

and beaded dragons mingle

 

with robotic surgeons, strip malls,

fast food, and silicon chips.

 

grand canyons, sky islands and snow-clad peaks 

solemn witnesses to the searing desert mirage.

 

life juxtaposed with desolation. 

mountain’s honor and desert integrity non-negotiable.

 

implicit song of humanity,

modernity stabilized by ancient roots.

 

nature’s celebration of swirling diversity and resilience.
